oilhead cam chain tensioner replacement 2 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 0
Having read the MCN article(March 2009,and owning a 2002 1150rt, wondering if others motorcycle owners of same era have had the fix done or had problems leading to needing the repair?

I have 38,500 miles on mine.

Thanks for any feedback,

Richard

I have an '02 RT with 60K on it and other than a dry spline, nothing has gone wrong. However, I know a guy in the club that had cam related problems at +135K on an '02 GS and traded it for a new GS with dealers full knowledge of the problem.

I've been fighting a rough idle on a newly-acquired '94 R110RSL for almost a year, and in crossing things off the list to fix on this old bike, changed out the left-hand cam chain tensioner last summer. It's an easy job.

Bike doesn't run any different tho!
