1999 R1100RT Foot Peg Plate Replacement 1 Year, 6 Months ago

Sure enough, on my first ride to Michigan and parked way far away from other cars in the parking lot, someone backed a boat trailer right into it and knocked my cycle over and the brake side right foot peg plate cracked in half and snapped right off as soon as I stepped onto it to see how bad it was...there is no fixin it.
Any suggestion of where to buy the part at a reasonable price and get fairly fast? "looks" easy to swap out and so far and found one place online for $400 for a piece of plastic, ouch!
Thank you in advance, Pete

It looks as though $330 shipped is the best and if anybody has any suggestions, aprreciated. Ordered it from Joe in parts at San Diego BMW, he always give me a pretty good and fair discount.

Pete:
I broke one of these on my '99 RT as well. Mine was a little more scary. I slid on wet pavement while turning into Laurel BMW on Ogden Avenue on a stormy Sunday. It was my only drop at anything above parking speeds. I think I might have been going 20mph. The curbing was not as expected and took me by surprise. The slick pavement sealed my fate. Pickup truck behind me was a biker and stopped in time and protected the lane while I picked up the bike and my wounded pride. I had to ride the thing home with the right peg broken off. I was able to stick my boot on the jagged corner of the broken piece...Always wear good boots!
Putting the peg back on is not rocket science. I think you buy the entire side plate, which is why it's so expensive. I had some difficulty installing the spring and pin. You have to follow the instructions that come with the parts. It looks intuitive but isn't....like a lot of German bits.
No worries. Your bike will be good as new. BMW parts are expensive, but a lot of brands don't stock the parts you need when you need them. You pay for the extensive parts system when you buy BMW parts. Worth it. You will learn to appreciate that as you keep riding these bikes.

Thanks Tom. I just ordered it and am finding out about the cost of the network. Have to say that Joe at San Diego BMW parts is right on top of the orders and 1,2,3 easy in a 2 minute call with some discount should have it shipped to my place by the weekend. I hope I can swap it out in a snap...All the best.
