2012 BMWMOA Rally 1 Year, 2 Months ago Karma: 2
It has been announced that the 2012 MOA rally will be held in Sedalia, MO on July 19-22. Anyone been in those parts? Map shows it to be not too far from Kansas City. Looks like some good BBQ potential. This is the rally that CRBMWOA should win the attendance prize!

Good central location in the USA for all people to get to. Used to go to motorcycle flat track races there. The riding just south of Sedalia in the Lake of the Ozarks area is OK. The better riding is further south in Northern Arkansas south of Springfield, MO.

I first found about it at Bloomsburg. Scouted motels from there, but they would not make reservations more thn 50 weeks in advance. By. The time we got home, the two motels in town were booked up. There is an old 48 bed Hotel in town which seems a bit expensivef, and which the Internet says is haunted. They seem to have a few rooms left.

Nice area for riding, but not much in the area. Should be good for camping, but it's gonna be a hot one.

If you have never tented at a BMW National Rally, they you don't know what you are missing. The climate, atmosphere and inclusiveness that comes from staying "on grounds" cannot be duplicated by the moteling experience. If you are on the border of deciding which to do, my strong suggestion is buy a good tent and sleeping pad and maximize the experience. In Eric Repking's words, who had attended many MOA rallies but never in a tent until Johnson City, TN........"it is like it is a completely different rally when you tent with the rest of the group........this is GREAT!"
