Cheap fix for PIAA 1100xx lights. 4 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 5
I came across this on another web site, a way to repair PIAA 1100xx lights. PIAA lights cost about $40.00 each when they die but can be rebuilt for under $5.00 each. You can go to Home Depot and pick up track lighting bulbs that fit perfectly, the size is MR16 35w-50W and they're about $3.50 each or 3 for $10.
What you will need to do, once you have the old light off from the bike, is to carefully cut the lens off from the end of the PIAA light, with RTV sealant re-glue the lens onto the new light. After the RTV is cured, place a small dab of dielectric grease on the little pins before installing the bulbs, this will protect the pins from corrosion. Re-install the lights.
