I agree that the forum is not perfect, but rather, a work in progress.
In order to decrease your level of confusion going forward I've specified "Quoted" text to be a nice bright blue color. Please note that this color will not be apparent in a Preview but presumably the bb code "quote/unquote in braces" will be enough to tip you off before you submit.
By the way this forum DOES NOT have a "Personal Message (PM)" function. I'm guessing from your brief description above that you are referring to the "email a registered member" feature in the extended member registration area. That area is contained in this site but is not part of this forum. This is merely SIMPLE, BASIC email function... not a personal message application.
You are correct about the CAPCTHA on the email a member page being redundant for logged in members. My apologies. I've disabled it. Our former site had been hacked so many times that I've been a bit security conscious of late. Our old member database had become a vast sea of porno links. Administrative control of the old site had been commandeered from us twice. Now you understand my concern.
If you ever decide to use the "email a member" feature again you will notice that the security feature is gone and emails are sent as expected.
