Remembrance for David Adler. 2 Years, 3 Months ago Karma: 5
I thought this belonged here because Dave organized our Meet to Eat activities and this is his forum.

This is a place where we can share our thoughts and recollections of Dave and hopefully by doing so we can deal with our shared loss.

The first thing that comes to mind for me is that is that I did not like everything he did, but he sure did a lot and on balance, our club is much the better for it. He was very active and he didn't just come to activities, he was always an important part of what was going on. No one who knew Dave would accuse him of being a wall flower. He always strove to make the club and activities better.

Neither was he shy about offering me "constructive criticism" when he thought there was something I could do better. I will have to find someone else to let me know when I screw up.

I cannot believe he is gone. Just a couple weekends ago, during the state park ride, he was telling us about how Ronald Reagan got into acting:

We will miss him. I will miss him.

Thank you to Denise Maple for letting me know something didn't seem right. I just learned by heading to our site.
I am in shock. I likely speak for many in this case. May all grieving keep Dave's spirit alive in our memories and stories. It is hard to be reminded of the fragility of life. It is harder when it is someone directly in our circle.
Bless your soul, David Adler.

I'm shocked to hear the news about Dave. I'm not sure when I first met Dave but I always remembered when I saw him last. I've said he could take it as good as he gave it and sometimes I wander if he was just setting me up so I could have the last word. A few weeks ago he was saying he needed to slow down his rides because his recovery from the weekends was taking too long. His plan was to hold down to 500 to 600 mile days. I was not about to tell him I considered that a long day! Dave, like most of us, loved to ride and when I went to a club function there would be a good chance I'd see him there. Sometimes even at a pull off on the Blueridge Parkway!

At one time or another I'll bet he was a great ridding buddy for most of us.

I will always remember with fondness the week that David and I spent in Canada going to the MOA rally. He made the trip fun with his experience and knowledge of travel and people and how to make the best of every situation.
Even when you didn't see eye to eye on matters, he never let that get in the way of our friendship.
I will truely miss you David.
Rest in peace.
