I took a ride to Lacrosse to shoot the beautiful colors in Wis. I wanted to break up the trip in 2 300 mile days. I had to work on Sat until 3 so I did not start to drive to Wis until 4. I do not care to drive in the dark and the main purpose of the trip was to take photos. I decided to stay in New Glarus, about 175 miles NW of Naperville. They have a couple of larger hotels in the town but they were full and I ended up staying at a cute B&B about 7 miles out of town. The place was in the middle of nowhere with total darkness and no sounds from roads. Nice place for a couple for a getaway if they can stand themselves together for that long. Went to a German restaurant in town for some real Bavarian food. They only had 2 German items and I selected Saurbraten.
The next day I had to go about 500 miles. I started out about 7:30. I would drive for about 3 minutes, see an incredible shot, get off my bike, get my camera out, walk around to get the shot and then finally get my photo. After about doing this 3 times, I became aware that at this pace I was never going to get home before dark. I would have taken a ton more shots if I would have been able to. A baboon with a camera would have been able to get great shots.
The colors were magnificent and I just wanted to share them with you. Let me know if you want me to take you off my mail for such things.
