Fox Valley Ride (Loop)
Category: Beginner/Day-Tour
Come out for a pleasant ride up Rt31 and then back down RT25 between Rt62 on the North and Rt34 on the South. (Looping from Oswego to Algonquin and back.)
No fuss, no rush, no high speeds, no challenging twisties, just a ride to see the sights.
Many gas-stops along the way, lunch stop at about the halfway point, at Alexander's just north of I90. (On Rt31 one light north of I90 on the east side of the road.)
On Sunday May 4th we will meet on the SE corner of RT25 and Rt34 in Oswego at 9:30ish AM.
We will leave at 10 AM. Will do the route in a clockwise fashion to avoid the bottlenecks up at Algonquin when Churches let out and congest westbound Rt62
Sunday May 4th:
Riders meeting time is 9:45 AM
Leave the Meet site at 10:00 AM.
Only thunder-storms and/or severe rain will cancel this ride.
Meet at the SE corner of US Rt 34 and Ill Rt 25 in Oswego Ill.
In the Macdleys Gas Station. May want to fill up there.
The ride is 84 BMW miles long, and takes approx. 4.5 hours including a fast lunch (may take us a little longer).
Route from the start / finish point:
Left (S) on Rt25 for about a block to Rt34
Right (W) on RT34 across the Fox River
Right (N) on RT31
Lunch stop at Alexander's Restaurant just north of I90 (use parking lot entrance just north of the restaurant to get to the north side p-lot).
Right (N) on RT31 to downtown Algonquin
Right (E) on Rt62 to Rt25 (five stop lights or so).
Right (S) on Rt25 back down to our starting point.
Pit Stop at the Windmill Park, just before ride end.
A simple closed loop, best done in early spring or mid-fall to enjoy all the colors of nature.
Get to see lots of different architectural styles and time periods of homes.
Is mostly straight lines less than 55mph (except in the lunch area).
Will be sharing the road with the Sunday-church crowd so go slow, and watch out for people trying to get home for the game.
Can do this ride by yourself or with friends anytime you want to.
I have found that on a Sunday you will want to do it in a clockwise loop(due to church traffic at the north end), but traffic is different on Saturday and you (suggested) may want to do it in a counter-clockwise loop.
