Here's another Matt update
As of Saturday, April 26, from the 'MOA forum:

Matthew is out of ICU as of yesterday. He's on a med-surg floor waiting to get stronger so that he can be moved to the rehab floor for a lot of physical therapy. He has lost almost 40 pounds and has no strength. Getting a glass of water to his lips is a big effort. They started letting him have liquids yesterday and since he managed to swallow a bit of graham cracker today they are considering letting him have some mushy stuff. He's exhausted but free of pneumonia, kidney and pancreas complications, blood clots, the poison that was killing him, etc. All he wants to do is go home but it will be awhile before that happens. I am just thankful to have him alive and talking to me, even if he does depart into space since he's on some rather heavy duty pain meds. Yesterday morning he told me in all seriousness that there were a chicken and rooster walking around the floor. He also talks about running to the grocery store to pick up some more orange juice.................if he tried to stand up he'd fall to the floor immediately. They had to shave his mustache off because he was getting a serious infection so I'm dealing with Matthew sans mustache, which is definitely a new look. Any way he looks is fine with me, though.
