In order to better serve, the board has formalized some existing committees and formed some new ones. We are seeking association members who are not already on the board to help. This is your opportunity to step forward and make the Chicago Region just that much better. The level of formality in committee organization will vary and it is up to respective chairs to decide if and when they meet and how to communicate to best meet committee goals. Click on 'Read More...' below for a list of committees. Please consider participating with one of the following committees: Activities - Chaired by Christy Lange, this group held a meeting in Janary to plan out activities for the rest of the year. There is still work to be done to make these activities happen. In particular, we need someone to champion the Meet-to-Eat rides and already have one coming up in April. (That seems a ways away, but it needs to be planned long enough in advance to get the word out.) Nominating - The purpose of the nominating committee is to identify and recruit candidates for elected office as well as people to fill volunteer positions with the association. The next elections are nine meetings away but we have an immediate need for volunteer positions so this committee needs to hit the ground running. It is also important that this committee be staffed by a majority of members who are not presently members of the board. Jerry Sjostrom has agreed to chair this committee until we can appoint a non-board member to carry that responsibility forward. Programming - I hope to find some help with providing meeting program. At present I am chairing this committee, but if I can find someone to do that, I will hand the reins over. I will remain involved in producing program regardless. Logo - BMW is in the process of providing new guidelines for club logos. We have a couple of people working on that who would appreciate some help. Jerry Sjostrom is chairing this committee. Welcoming - Art Laschober is chairing this committee whose purpose it is to help integrate new members into our group. This is a terrific opportunity for recent joiners as you can probably sympathize with the situation you faced when joining a group for which many memberships date back decades.
CHITECH - Among those who work on their own motorcycles, members of CHITECH are an elite group capable of performing almost any maintenance or repair on BMW motorcycles. If you want to learn more about your bike, be sure to attend the various CHITECH events held through the year. If you are technically inclined and wish to learn more and help others, talk to Seymour Goldberg (CHITECH chair) or any other CHITECH member about getting involved. I encourage all to consider serving on a committee. The association is what it is due to the efforts of those who participate.
