Join us! We have been riding to La Crosse, Wisconsin on this weekend for almost 50 years! This is a group ride, although you can ride on your own if you wish. Traditionally a motel ride with camping available for those who prefer. We’ll ride up there on Saturday, May 28th–taking all back roads–and return on Monday (Memorial Day), May 30th.

Here’s the itinerary:

Saturday, May 28: meet at McDonald’s/Shell at the north side of the Route 20 exit from I-90 (Northwest Tollway). Ride departs at 9:00 a.m.; be ready to go with full tanks. The group will follow back roads/state and county routes to the lunch stop in New Glarus, Wisconsin (Glarner Stube is our customary choice but there are others as well).

After lunch, we continue on to La Crosse. Your option: motel or camping (see below for details).

Saturday evening, enjoy one of the numerous casual dining establishments in downtown La Crosse.

Sunday, May 29th: Join or form a small group for a planned scenic ride. All the roads in the “Driftless Area” of Wisconsin are terrific. Plan to return to La Crosse about 4 p.m.

Sunday evening, dinner at 6:00 p.m. at Piggy’s Restaurant, just a short walk from the hotel. Great food and drink at this fine dining establishment. Casual dress.

Monday, May 30th: Breakfast, then head for home. Ride on your own or with others through the great two lane roads of southwestern Wisconsin–or, if you have to hurry back, it’s about 4.5 hours on the Interstate to the west suburbs of Chicago. (Note: there’s a Hot Dog Ride on Monday to the Huntley Dairy Mart if you want to stop there on your way back!)
