*Annual Memorial Day Weekend Ride
May 29 - June 1
Do you have lunch plans for Saturday, May 29? Would you like to ride to New Glarus, Wisconsin, the Swiss Village known for its Swiss heritage? Either ride with us from near Marengo, or meet up in New Glarus, for some good
After lunch, either head back, or, why not continue north to La Crosse, and join us at Piggy’s Restaurant for fine dining on Sunday evening, May 30, on the scenic Upper Mississippi River?
YES! The annual ride to La Crosse, a mainstay of the CRBMWOA calendar, is ON, and you’re invited! There are no finer roads in the upper Midwest than the “Driftless Area” of Southwest Wisconsin, one road after another of great
curves and beautiful scenery. It’s time to take off the training wheels, cut some grooves in your tires, and head for the open road! After all, that’s the reason you got that BMW, right? Not to let it sit in the garage and gather dust!
Here’s the plan:
Saturday, May 29, 9 a.m. Meet at the TA travel center at the Rt. 20 Hampshire Exit 42 off I-90, Jane Addams Illinois toll road . We’ll take scenic two lane roads to New Glarus, and after lunch we’ll continue northwest on the
some of the best roads in the upper Midwest, arriving La Crosse late afternoon. Sunday we’ll have breakfast and head out on the twisty roads from La Crosse, returning in time to meet for dinner at Piggy’s around 6 p.m. Return from La Crosse on Monday.
Two Choices for Accommodations:
Camping: our good friends Ed and Kelly Koegel have invited campers to stay on their grounds a short distance north of La Crosse. Ed and Kelly have hosted before and have the perfect spot for campers. This is the last year Ed and Kelly will be hosting camping as they will be moving out of state, so don’t miss out!
YOU NEED TO LET DAN TRAMPEL KNOW IF YOU WILL BE CAMPING! Email Dan at firstname.lastname@example.org to let him know, or if you have questions about camping.
Hotel: we have reserved a block of rooms at the Radisson La Crosse. one of the finest hotels in La Crosse adjacent to the Mississippi, right on the beautiful Mississippi River front, King rooms at $129 per night and double queen
rooms at $129 per night. On Sunday you’ll have lots of riding options, through the fantastic Driftless Area, nonstop curves through the Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota countryside. There are some great spots for breakfast or lunch or
ice cream in, or near, La Crosse. Don’t feel like riding? Take a cruise on the paddlewheeler on the Mississippi River.
Sunday evening we head to Piggy’s Restaurant, a short walk from the Radisson, and all are welcome at the campfire at Ed and Kelly’s, both Saturday and Sunday evening.
On Monday we head for home and it’s your choice of whether to stick to two lane roads, or take the fast route on the interstate, about 4 1/2 hours back home. Ride alone or in small groups.
Radisson Hotel Reservations: Guests may feel free to call hotel directly at 608-784-6680, press option 2, reference the block name CR BMW Motorcycle Group and make their reservation.
