C.A.M.P. – Sleeping Bear S’More
September 10 - September 13
This is an event organized by CAMP – Chicago Area Motocamping Pros. For information and registration visit Meetup: The Sleeping Bear S’more – Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, MI
We are going to ride up to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, and enjoy three days of riding and camping in one of the most beautiful areas that the Midwest (and dare we say, the US) has to offer. Wonderful windy roads around Traverse City and the Leelanau peninsula, wineries, cider houses, tubing on the Platte River and sleeping in a remote campsite. Sounds like a dream? We are making it happen.
Our base will be the Platte River Campground, right by where the Platte River meets Lake Michigan. Saying that that location is breathtakingly beautiful is an understatement.
We will be providing more info as we get closer to the date, but this is the plan:
– We will group ride on Friday, September 10
– We will ride up to the Platte River Campground (300 miles), set up camp and enjoy the fire. (If you prefer to tow your bike there and meet us there, you can!)
– On Saturday and Sunday you will be riding around on routes that we will have prepared for you, or be tubing along the Platte River or climbing the dunes of the Sleeping Bear. Whatever YOU want. Your only obligation is to have fun.
– On Monday we will ride back to Chicago (but of course you are welcome to leave on Sunday, if that works better for you).
Be prepared to carry all your camping needs. A support vehicle that can take extra stuff you don’t want to carry on your bike (i.e. coolers with your food or drinks) may be there, but it is not guaranteed.
Please note, this is a CAMP event only. The good news is that if you are not a CAMP member, you can become one very easily. Shoot us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we will let you know how.
If you cannot join us for this trip, we have more planned for the summer. Please check our event page for the latest schedule.
